An emblematic site of the Albigensian Crusade, Termes Castle takes visitors back to one of the most striking episodes of the Middle Ages. A hilltop site with breathtaking panoramas

After a short walk, the site is revealed. The majestic ruins dominate the Termenet gorges and offer sweeping views over the wild Corbières. On site, panels, a cultural booklet, and even an audioguide via the Pays Cathare app accompany visitors throughout their discovery.

Remains steeped in history

The tour unveils the different eras of the castle: from the first walls besieged in 1210 by Simon de Montfort, to the fortifications reinforced by the King of France, until its destruction ordered by Louis XIV. The castle chapel and its cruciform window, now the site’s emblem, still bear witness to this rich past.
