In the heart of Hérault, the Sainte-Marie de Valmagne Abbey, founded in the 12th century, opens its doors for a unique visit. Between majestic Cistercian architecture, a peaceful cloister, fragrant gardens, and wine cellars, immerse yourself in the history of a place steeped in spirituality and tradition. An experience to enjoy with family, as a couple, or in a group.
Founded in the 12th century, the Sainte-Marie de Valmagne Abbey is one of the most beautiful Cistercian abbeys in France. Its impressive nave, nicknamed the “Cathedral of the Vines”, reflects its spiritual heritage and its close connection with wine culture.
The 1-hour guided tour, or self-guided audio visit, leads you through the cloister and its aromatic gardens, ideal spaces for relaxation and contemplation. You will also discover the chapter house, the monks’ refectory, and the vast cellars where wine barrels still rest today, continuing a centuries-old winemaking tradition.
Throughout the visit, the abbey reveals its many facets: a place of worship, wine estate, and listed historic site. Tastings of wines from the Valmagne vineyard extend the experience, offering an authentic moment of sharing, ideal for couples, families, and groups.
