Saint-Papoul Abbey tells over twelve centuries of history. Founded in the 8th century, it prospers in the 11th under the Rule of Saint Benedict. In 1317, Pope John XXII makes it a bishopric, before the Revolution turns the cathedral into a parish church.
Admire the 14th-century cloister, the chapter house with ribbed vaults, and the single-nave church. The chevet, decorated by the Master of Cabestany, features exceptional Romanesque sculptures and a unique stone roof.
